On August 12, I had the honor of marching in the Fredericton Pride Parade with Randy Boissonault, the Special Advisor to the Prime Minister on LGBTQ2 issues, Peter Schiefke, the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Youth, Alaina Lockhart, Member of Parliament for Fundy-Royal, and hundreds of others in support of the LGBTQ2 community.
After the horrific events on August 10, continuing the events scheduled at Pride was an important step to bring our community together, and to show our solidarity with not only the LGBTQ2 community, but with the Fredericton Police Force and the families and loved ones of the four individuals who were taken too soon from our community.
Events like Pride truly bring out the best in our community. I am so proud to represent a community that celebrates and embraces each others differences. Our diversity is, and always will be, our strength.
Demonstrations of love and diversity, and the celebration of our equal human dignity will provide hope as this community heals.
